Author of the 2015 book Meso Warrior: One Woman’s Fight against Mesothelioma
Announcing her passing, Merseyside Asbestos Victims Support Group, paid tribute to her on their website: "We would like to acknowledge the sad passing of Mavis Nye, she will be missed, not only in the UK but globally as a fighter for asbestos victims. 'Fourteen years from her original prognosis she has campaigned passionately around the dangers of awareness, and was one of the first people to galvanise all sides of the debate. From a standing start and with no formal training in the field, she has been a touchstone for victims across the globe.'
